Protein for healthy body

Protein is any of the large group of nitrogenous organic compounds that are essential constituents of living cells, consisting polymers of amino acids. Most plants and some organisms are capable of producing all the 20 standard amino acids thru the process of bio-synthesizing. Human beings and other animals depend on protein rich foods for some of the amino acids that cannot be produced by them.

Protein is essential for building muscles and bones, repairing body cells, control metabolic activities and also to serve as a source for energy. Foods can be classified as the source of complete protein and incomplete protein. Complete Protein has all the amino acids whereas the incomplete protein lacks one or more of the amino acids. Meat, fish and eggs are considered as source of Complete Protein and on the other hand protein found in fruits and vegetables is considered as the source of incomplete protein.
