Typically old age people suffer from weaker bones and especially women from bone diseases such as Osteoporosis. This is caused due to insufficient Calcium, Vitamin D, phosphorus etc. It is advisable to intake foods rich in calcium and vitamin D since younger age itself, so that when you are Old your body will have enough strength and stronger bones.
Calcium helps to build stronger bones, stronger teeth and found to be more effective in teenagers, which is the right time for body growth. It is also responsible for other activities such as performance of nerves and muscle tissues. Let us have a look in to foods rich in Calcium. Milk is one of the essential sources of Calcium. Hence parents should advice their kids to take Milk daily without fail. In 8 ounces of Milk, there would be 300mg of Calcium. Other food products such as yoghurt, cheese, white beans are also rich in calcium.
Vitamin D known as sunshine Vitamin also helps in building stronger bones. Deficiency in Vitamin D may result in rickets, a disease that weakens bones. Our Body is capable of receiving enough Vitamin D thru sunlight. Foods that are rich in Vitamin D include Egg yolk, fatty fishes like Mackerel, Salmon and Sardines, Cod Liver Oil etc.
Apart from Nutritious foods one has to do exercises regularly to build strong bones which would result in happy and healthy life even during the Old Age!
